The Importance of a Backup

We all know how it will be to lose some important data; all this can be avoided by doing regular backups.

Many of us underestimate the need for a backup; each of us has something on their computers they would prefer not to lose. The important data might be just some pictures, or simple texts written by you. For some it might be work documents that would make lots of trouble if they were gone.

The Worth of a Backup

The loss of important data is not known until one experiences it oneself; the lost data might be gone forever. The importance of making constant backup becomes clear to yourself; you might even start to curse your laziness for not making any copies of the data.

In many cases the data will not be totally lost, even when the hardware failure becomes reality. For a high price you may purchase a service where they dig out all the data from a dead hard disk; the price goes up the harder it becomes. If the data was important enough, you will not have much choice than to take the offer and have them do the job for you. The bill will remind you of your laziness.

All this could be avoided by doing a simple backup; the backup can be set up to be done automatically. The price you might have to pay for this is only the cost of another hard disk; which is not much with the current hard disk prices.

Backup Routine

After having set up a backup routine you will still need to keep your eye on it; nothing is worse than having a backup set up running and it fails. The need of checking the backup set up still exists; thankfully checking it up will not take much of your time. Some programs even offer a direct failure popup when it fails.

For most of the time the backup will run totally hidden; you will not even know it is actually running. The way it is supposed to run; thus it is a great way to keep your data safe. There are also hardware based set ups which will be even more efficient than software based; though, they come with a danger of losing data because of a human mistake: The delete button.

Not Only Important Data

Making a backup of your operation system installation will help you when you will have trouble with the operation system and you need to do a re-install. Many motherboards have their own backup utility for this kind of backup; you will not even need the installation disk.

Having a backup of your operation system might safe you lots of time that you can use for something else than just installing your operation system again. The time is money as we know.

When did you do your last backup on your important data?
