Check your hard rive for errors. You will need to have a Windows disc for the operating system you have. |
- Turn on your computer and put the Windows disc in.
- When it says press any key to boot from CD, press any key.
- Wait for everything to load. It should then give you a few choices. Select the one that says repair Windows or something similar.
- Proceed through the steps until you come to a black screen. It should ask you for an option to choose which drive you want, so you select one.
- Enter the administrator password. (It will prompt you for this.)
- After you have entered the password, type in "chkdsk /r" without the quotes.
- Wait for the process to complete. This may take 30min-2hrs depending on your processor.
- When it has completed, it should say if there were any errors and if they were fixed or not. Then type "restart" without the quotes.
- The computer will restart. Remove the Windows CD from the computer.
- You have completed checking your disk for errors.
