How to view information about your computer
Sometimes, you wish to see the basic information about your computer, or sometimes, you may also want to compare your machine to a standard. The details of the computer can sometimes not be found by simply inspecting. Windows provides some tools, which allow you to accomplish this job.
Dxdiag
Go to start>run. Type dxdiag in the box and press enter. This opens up the DirectX diagnostic tool, which allows you to view detailed information about the multimedia devices connected to your computer.
Msinfo tool
This tool can be started by going to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information. This opens up the System Information tool. Using it, detailed information can be gathered about your computer.
Device Manager
This tool allows you to view information about the hardware devices connected to the computer. It also allows you to view details of the respective drivers installed, and to update them. To open Device Manager, right-click on My computer. Under Device Manager Tab, click Device Manager.
System Properties
This gives the very basic details about your machine. To open system properties, right click on My computer, and click the General Tab.
