No, I didn't freak out in the abstract, just keep reading and you'll see!
My dear friend Kranzorg, today, while having a chat about our long day at work (no pun intended), informed me on something really shocking.
If you're running Windows XP, here's what you have to do:
Assuming that your Windows XP is installed on the C: drive, click on Start, then Run, and type in the following path: C:WINDOWSHelpToursWindowsMediaPlayerAudioWav, or simply navigate to it from the Explorer.
Those are the wave files used by Microsoft Help, basically for the introduction and tutorials. Now, right click on any of the wave file and select Open With, then choose Notepad, yes that's right, Notepad.
Now here comes the interesting part, go to the very end of the text. In the last line at the end of it, you should see something like this:
LISTB INFOICRD 2000-04-06 IENG Deepz0ne ISFT? Sound Forge 4.5
Now you're probably asking, what the heck is that? It's the proof that Microsoft used a pirate copy of Sound Forge to make those wave files. Deepz0ne is a notorious crackers group and apparently, Microsoft's developers used a cracked version of Sound Forge to produce those wave files. Pretty shocking isn't it?
This coming from the company that mocks and bans piracy, the company that loses billions because of pirated software.
