How to Play Ms-dos Games on Windows XP

A very short and simple way of getting all your favorite MS-DOS games to work on more recent operating systems.

Most recent Microsoft operating systems make playing MS-DOS games hard or even impossible. This small step by step guide will have you games running in no time.

  1. Download DOSBOX (Google.com - download dosbox) it is a dos emulator which will allow you to play dos games on xp etc.
  2. Once downloaded install to c: drive (if you install anywhere else this guide wont make much sense)
  3. Create a new folder called "Dosgames" right next to the dosbox folder
  4. Place any game folders you have into your new "Dosgames" folder
  5. Go to c:dosbox run the dosbox.exe
  6. Type in mount c c:dosgames (this mounts the folder full of games you have allowing you to run an .exe)
  7. Type in c:
  8. Type in cd c:pizza (replace pizza with the name of one of the folders inside your dosgame folder)
  9. Type in pizza (replace pizza with the name of the game for example- mario.exe)

Well that should be it and your ready to do, please not if you do not copy the above steps properly you will receive errors so make sure you put the right text in. Hope this helps all you DOS gamers out there and thank to dosbox for such a great program.
