Web analytics show that a vast majority of internet users are still using IE6, and outdated, archaic, and unsafe browser.
They were born before 1985
Chances are that older generations are more reluctant to move forward with the constantly changing tides of technology. I confess that I myself was born before 1985, but I am one of the few, the proud, the internet savvy. I look around at my friends and probably half of them are computer literate while the other half isn't. Even my generation that was around while this technology emerged has a hard time associating with it, much less generations before mine.
They don't understand security
Instead of learning about security, most people simply believe what they are told. Maybe they don't have time to learn about it, that's fine. Whatever you do, please don't believe a pop-up ad on your computer. Instead of installing mass amounts of products to protect your computer from your internet activities, why don't you get a browser that is actually conscious of your security? Even IE7 is better than IE6.
If it's not broken, then don't fix it
Many people take this blasé attitude. They haven't ever had any problems in the past with IE6, so why should they change? In effect they are saying that newer browsers don't have anything better to offer them. How wrong you are.
If it's packaged with Windows, then it has to be good
The Microsoft monopoly will be the death of us all. Microsoft quickly realized that the only possible way to get their browser to compete with better, more reliable browsers was to package their browser with Windows. Shame on you Microsoft. You've doomed everyone running Windows.
It can't get any better than this
I wish I could stay on IE6 and Windows XP forever. That would be awesome. I can do everything I ever wanted and never have to worry about upgrades or those security holes that hackers are opening up daily. Technology can't get any better than it is now.
Let's all help out the internet by having the most up-to-date web browser. Don't let your needs be defined by the browser, but let the browser you use be defined by your needs.
