Choose 3-4 pictures and arrange them in your workspace. It helps to blend or merge the photos together first.

My image is about 1600x1600 and 300 dpi.
Next, open a new document. I made mine about 400x400 @ 300 dpi and draw a white line with the pencil tool on the top and left sides. Hold down the shift key to keep the line straight. (You can use any color, I chose white)

Under Edit in the dropdown menu, choose define pattern, and name your pattern.

On your file (the original file with the photos) create a new layer, and choose fill under the edit menu, and and then choose pattern, and select the pattern you just made.

Your image should look like this now.

Choose the move tool from the tool palette, and move the new layer until there is a white border around everything you would like to crop. Zoom in real close.

With the rectangular marquee tool, start at the topmost left corner and drag down to the bottom right corner and crop your image.

With the magic wand tool, select random boxes on the layer with the squares. (hold shift to select multiple boxes at a time). Create a new layer and make sure you are on the new layer, and choose fill from the edit menu, and fill with white. You should have several white squares now.

Lower the opacity to about 50% on the layer with the squares, and you are done!

Here's the completed tiled mosaic. Just add borders and text for a complete project.
