Crystal Reports: A Perfect Tool for Developing Reports

Crystal reports bring its developers the power of developing useful reports in no time. Many companies and developers prefer it to other contemporary reporting tools for its rich features and ease of development. Developers and users have been using this nice tool for a long time and are satisfied with its performance and simplicity. This excellent reporting tool can be used with any software and offers immaculate performance and scalability. It can be used to develop reports that range from basic reports to complex ones.

Reports can be created with that data from any database. All you have to do is to specify a data source. A data source is where your data for report resides and it contains specification of a database server, a database, a stored procedure, table or view inside a database. ODBC data source allows you to specify virtually any type of database as the data source for a report.

Parameter driven queries can take parameters such as a date range, a product code or anything that can filter data for a report. This allows users to specify multiple parameters during the execution of a report, which makes it possible to browse various types of reports from a single report. These reports also supports advanced grouping based on a report field which makes it extremely user-friendly while working with huge collection of data.

Crystal report works well with .net applications and it can be made a part of .net IDE. It helps the developer to easily create and integrate a report to a database application on the fly. Crystal report also supports OLAP cubes. In other words you can make an OLAP cube a data source for a report. As we know OLAP cubes can give you a multidimensional view about your data, it helps to further enhance your data analysis and takes your users to the next level of data analysis.

Is Visual Basic the Best Language?

Visual Basic allows the programmer to create the user interface first, and then add the code as needed to make the interface work. In fact, the majority of the interface is already done for you in the Visual Basic compiler. As a programmer you will only need to tweak the environment and then add the code in the back end to have the interface perform exactly as you would like, also Visual Basic has a large library of pre-made functions that is easily accessible. This allows the programmer to quickly create Windows based applications with a minimal amount of effort.

FORTRAN and Visual Basic, although they are both high level languages, differ greatly in their usage. As stated previously Visual Basic is great for quickly building an application that can do almost anything you need it to do. FORTRAN, on the other hand, is more of a scientific language. FORTRAN is short for ‘formula translator' and is used for formula solving applications.

A large advantage Java has over Visual Basic is that it can perform on virtually any system (Windows (any version), MacOS or UNIX), while Visual Basic is the master of Windows. The reason for this is because Java requires the Java Virtual Machine to be downloaded and installed on any machine Java is installed on. This download does cause certain security issues with access to Java applications. Java does have certain features (the Sandlot security model, etc.) that aid in protecting it but are not tamperproof. Both Java and Visual Basic are excellent languages for development and a developer should know exactly what his network structure is before choosing which language he wishes to use.

Many independent programmers prefer Perl over Visual Basic. They like the ease of use, the cost (free), and many believe a better support base (via online resources versus Microsoft support, which also costs money). But no one can deny the Visual Basic GUI design tools and useful wizards. Regardless of what programmers want they are usually bound by whatever their company uses. In most cases if the company has invested in to Visual Basic then that is what will be used. Also, the actual GUI for Perl is not the most attractive.

Visual Basic Support and Tools

There are more tools for Visual Basic than I can name here, but I will give a few examples.
•	Sonic Alpha Style Control aids in the look and feel of your GUI.
•	Sonic Click - Mega Button Control gives your buttons a web look
•	VBScodePrint allows more flexibility in the look of the actual code
•	TurboVb Mini Apps allows a person to register and unregister components from explorer

These tools can range to $0 - $150 or more. Visual Basic has more tools created for it than any other programming language. Search the Internet and you will find several free applications you will find useful for your programming experience.

Visual Basic has two main ways to receive support. The expensive and time consuming way is by contacting Microsoft. The more common way is to look for help via the Internet. There are several web sites dedicated to the programmer who is in need of some help. They are usually quicker and always free.

How many times have you re-done yourItunes library? How many times have you had album art problems, Dividing your albums up and making Ituneshard to handle? I had all these and more. I finally broke down and searched the web for a tool that would make my life much better. I have since taken this thing in and made it part of my music lifestyle.

What does it do?

It does allot but what I use it for is to convert all my music media to one format. (mp3) so thatItunes will accept it and make It all work as it should.
It is super lightweight. Very basic but very powerful. You can select a whole folder pick what you want it to convert to and walk away. It's very fast and you loose 0% quality they really sound great!
Once its all said and done Itunes accepts your files with ease! It will even keep your old files but make a uniformed version for use elsewhere.
It has a trial version, and as far as I have seen its free forever, and converts music fine. Not sure what features the paid version offers. I can say that this thing is made well so there probably great!
To get a copy of this awesome little tool head on over to dBpoweramp.

It's 99% accurate to detect hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin), hCG-H (hyperglycosylated hCG - for detection before your first missed period), and LH (luteinizing hormone - for detection of your most fertile days). Note that these hormones don't indicate pregnancy or ovulation respectively as the extenuating circumstances may have affected the levels of these hormones in your body. In addition to these hormones, the device will show you the symbol of a baby, no baby, or multiples and your estimated delivery date based upon your concentration of hCG, hCG-H, and LH in your urine via its onscreen interface.

To use it, you pee on a stick, specifically the absorbent test strip at one end, then you remove the cap from the other end of the stick (to keep you away from casually contaminating) to reveal the USB connector. Next, pop it into your computer and you'll see your USB port starts the electrospray ionization process with a created spectrograph of the various masses for your analysis and urinalysis. After reviewing your test results, just pop the device out of your computer and change the test strip. The display will remain lit for five minutes before power off.
Maya 7 simple animation tutorial

Maya 7 is capable of creating some of the best animation on the internet, films and even television, but if you are new to maya you really will not have a clue where to begin I know I once there too.

This tutorial will give you a good idea on how to create a simple ball and make it move across the screen, maybe you think that this is to simple for you, well when I first began I thought the same as you, however we all must start with the basics to progress to much bigger animation such as bone structures, ik handles and even vertex animation.

So to begin with open up maya 7 and let’s make a start,

I have drawn a arrow to the tool we will use to create a sphere quickly, first of all if you don’t see this tool bar I will show you why,

Make sure you have the polygons tool bar open and not one of the other tool bars, right now click the tool that the arrow points to this will create a sphere with what ever default settings your sphere options have, don’t worry if your sphere looks different to this one it doesn’t really matter for this tutorial.

Next step, lets make sure the animation setting are perfect for us, click the tool that the arrow points to below,

This is called the animation preference, it will open this pop up,

Now if your options don’t look like this don’t worry, we need to set it up, change the playback and the animation start/end to 25 we are only going to make this animation 1 second long, (now if you are in America set this to 30).

Make sure that the playback speed is set to real time [numbers], if your real time [25 fps] isn’t 25 do not worry we will set this up next.

Click where the arrow points to Setting and you should have a different screen facing you like the one below.

Change the time to PAL [25 fps] if you live in England or Europe if you live in America or else where change it to NTSC or your local setting that you know.

It is important that you do this every time you start an animation to make sure that the play back speed is perfect for your region, this is very important if you get a job in the industry.

Now click save and the box will go away, now in your time line located at the bottom of the screen, if you have something lie this going on,

1.04 we need to change it to one as it’s not a whole number, in the white box where the longer arrow points select the number and type in 1.0 to reset it back to 1, this as changed because we have changed the settings, but everything is back to normal now.

Select the ball and make sure the time line is on one still and press S, now if you look at your time line you should see that a blue line as appeared on the selected frame like below,

Click on the frame two and you should see something like the image next to it, if you don’t , reselect frame one, press S again, if no luck make sure you don’t have caps lock on and repress S it will work now.

Right now select frame 25 (or 30), once you’re in frame 30 select the ball and press W (making sure caps lock is not on) and move the ball to a new location, once you have moved it press S to create a animation frame.
