In this tutorial, I will teach you how to modify the "Start" button in Windows XP.

Things To Know:

This modification only works with the original Windows XP theme (Luna) and the Windows XP MCE theme (Royale). It does not work with windows classic.

This modification involves rewriting party of the Windows Registry.

This modification involves editing files in the System folder.

This modification ONLY works on windows xp home with sp1 or sp2.

Things You Need:

Resource Hacker

Common Sense

Ok assuming you have windows XP and Resource Hacker, I will guide you through this step by step.

First, open resource hacker, and open the file "explorer.exe" located in the C:/WINDOWS/ folder. In resource hacker, open the "String Table" Folder and go to folder number 37. Open the folder and click The string in it.

Once in folder 37's string, you will see "Start" in quotes. Replace the word start with whatever you want your button to say. Compile the script.

Save this file to your desktop as "Explorer2.exe".

Warning! The following steps require changes to the windows registry!

Go to start >> Run >> and type "Regedit".

Ctrl alt delete, go to processes, and end "Explorer.exe" Your screen will go blank with an exception of Regedit.

In the registry, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> Software >> Microsoft >> Windows NT >> Current Version >> Winlogon.

Under name find "Shell". Double click it and change it's value data to "Explorer2.exe".

Reboot using Ctrl Alt Delete.

That's it! Enjoy, I guess...

Note:Stuck at welcome screen at reboot? If this happens, just ctrl+alt+del and start a new process. Load your Explorer2.exe.

Ultimate Gamer Hack / Anti-hack Guide

Hacks

I have been browsing around the internet lately and have discovered far too many hack guides that are hacks themselves. And people fall for them! Trying to steal your password, offering you items and loads of experience ( levels ) for free. All you need to give them is your password... Doesn't that ring a bell? Doesn't it seem slightly fishy that they'll do this for free. They target people like that , dumb people
who believe them.

By now you may realize im not going to offer you hacks that can change your level or give you uber items because you cant without getting your password taken from you, and if by some miracle they do hack it, its only a matter of time before you get caught and your i.p is banned completely from the system.

Keylogging :

The only hack that works is keylogging. Keylogging... Whoever use these obviously have no life and are awful people , the scum of the gaming community or any community for that matter. Fortunately there are ways to avoid these people :

If you use MSN or other messengers enabling you to send files over the web, watch out, because a keylogger or a similar hack may be inside anything anyone sends you. Im not saying to completely avoid receiving files at all, but if someone suddenly becomes your friend because you play the same game as them, Keep an eye on them.

-Use an antivirus or Anti-Spyware software. Most of these are free off the web. Such programs as AVG Free Edition, Ad-aware SE (Second Edition), And Microsoft Anti-Spyware are all effective against such hacks.

-But most of all, the smartest thing you can do. Don't tell anyone your password! I cant stress this enough. It's what all the game websites tell you for a reason ! If you tell anyone your password, word tends to get out.

Overall these are the things you should keep in mind. Its short but to the point and it works, so please, dont give in to the trap of hackers/scammers, be safe, and have a great time gaming.

Downloads :

If you want to download antivirus software i mentioned earlier, these are the addresses
