Common Protocol Exploitation Attacks
by TechDoc, Nov 9, 2008
Over the years numerous malicious attacks have been perpetrated based around the subversion of various parameters of standard networking protocols and the manner in which they handle data. In this way the very essence of the protocols functional integrity is corrupted to do the attacker’s bidding.

Layer Two Error Handling
by TechDoc, Nov 2, 2008
The way in which a OSI Layer two device, such as a switch, deals with runts and other forms of frame corruption has a dramatic impact upon a network’s overall efficiency, bandwidth availability, and the quality of service delivered.

Interrupt Requests (irqs)
by TechDoc, Sep 29, 2008
Interrupt Requesting (IRQ) is a computer system performance enhancing technology that plays a key role in how the CPU performs input/output processing and interfaces with every peripheral in the computer, from the keyboard and mouse to the hard disk and modem. It is through IRQ prioritization that the CPU juggles multiple concurrent tasks thereby giving the impression that it is doing many things at once.

ATM Implementation Scenarios
by TechDoc, Sep 7, 2008
Originally intended to be a unified networking strategy ATM is a connection-oriented, circuit-switched cell relay “Jack-of-all-trades” transport protocol that uses small uniform fixed-sized cells. It is currently being implemented at the consumer level as the transport protocol for Point-to-Point Protocol over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (PPPoA). PPPoA is now commonly used for consumer/home VoIP and streaming media implementations.

Wireless Networking Security Considerations
by TechDoc, Aug 28, 2008
Without doubt; the implementation, maintenance, updating, and testing of a network’s security suite in conjunction with ongoing network state-of-preparedness assessment, form the fabric upon which counteracting all forms of unauthorized network access and uses before, during and after the event are based.
